The SS Huckleberry, winner of the 2010 Zombie Safe House Competition, (I didn’t even know such a thing existed!) is secure, has it’s own food production facilities, and is powered by diesel fuel made from decomposing undead! I mean, how wonderful is that? You stay alive, healthy, and your carbon footprint is vastly reduced! There is absolutely nothing I don’t like about that.

This is a lovely way to start the week! Footage of a giant robot spider in the warehouse district of Yokohama, wandering around, spitting steam and water. The thing is apparently 40 feet tall, and as you can see, there’s at least three people riding on it’s back. I think I’m in love. Who wants to help give the inventor some more funds so we can bring one of these to Burning Man?

Let’s be frank here, this is just an ad for a video game. With that out of the way, let’s talk about how awesome it is! The Fallout games have always had a wickedly black sense of humour, and it’s nice to see that Betheseda haven’t forgotten that spirit as they’ve taken over the franchise. Aerospace behemoth Boeing has announced that it will build a hybrid airship/helicopter combination aircraft, able to lift heavy loads across long distances. Boeing will work with Canadian firm SkyHook International.

Finally, the industrial-corporate hegemony has seen the value of lighter-than-air craft! Oh, how I’ve yearned for a world where giant zeppelins drift silently through the sky, like massive lofty whales of the aether. Thank you Boeing, for making this young man’s dreams a wonderful reality. Now, I just need to convince someone that these are needed in Vancouver…

This is Marco. Isn’t he adorable? His little swirly ball, big buggy eyes, and glistening exposed fangs just scream huggable, dontcha think? I love his little hands. Marco was made by the amazingly talented Jessica Joslin, a Chicago-based artist, and apparently a junkhound extraordinaire, judging by the amount of neat stuff she’s found to make her menagerie with. There’s an interview with her over at Coilhouse, which I’m not even going to bother excerpting, because you’re all going to go right over there and read it. Or at least stare at the pretty pictures.

This… this is just a thing of beauty. I mean, its a steampunk LCD monitor. What more does one have to say? Now that I’ve seen this, all I can do is stare at my boring, run-of-the-mill PC screen with nothing but disdain. Seriously, it’s that fucking cool. I won’t even get into the fact that the creator has a matching keyboard; my heart just can’t take the lust.
